Electric Lady Tour Review
Hundreds of fans lined up outside The Warfield decked out in their tuxedos, black and white stripes, bright red lipsick and pompadour hairstyles, showing their vast inspiration from Janelle Monae’s style. Event staff greeted patrons with “Ten Droid Commandments” that fans had to abide by while witnessing the Electric Lady Tour. Opening up for Janelle Monae was Roman Gianarthur performing in a jazzy fashion including his hit, “I-69.” Once Janelle Monae hit the stage, she set quite a tone as doctors came out in white lab coats and wheeled Monae out in a strait jacket right in front of the microphone, giving an asylum atmosphere. Once the music played, Monae brought high energy to the room. Her set included songs from her latest album, Electric Lady, and covering songs from Prince and the Jackson 5. She showed how much of a rockstar she truly is by moonwalking, showing off her James Brown inspired dance moves, walking into the audience and crowdsurfing. Monae’s melody is giving her fans a fun, innovative and futuristic show.
