Kevin Ross’ “Be Great” Is The Perfect Inspiration

Every now and then, you hear a song at the perfect place and time your life. Perhaps it’s the raw emotion the artist puts into the song, or maybe it’s a deep message that heavily resonates to your current life story. R&B crooner Kevin Ross masters both elements in his latest single, “Be Great.”

I came across this song on my Soundcloud feed a couple weeks ago when another artist reposted the track. Soundcloud always comes in the clutch when discovering new musical gems. After one play on hearing the lyrics, I quickly had this song on replay the entire weekend.

Kevin Ross makes sure his listeners are encouraged to be their best self. The first line says, “Do you wanna be great?” before moving into, “It’s time to shift the culture, move with focus / Rise above and lose the vultures.” Sometimes we go through life unhappy with our current situation, for many of my peers, it’s establishing the best career. Many of us get discouraged if we feel like we’re not where we thought we would be at this point in life, because we know we’re destined for something greater. A big factor is to always make sure you surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Your dreams aren’t always supported by the people you have in your circle, so you have to prove the naysayers wrong and be around people who understand. As long as you keep pushing and going after what you want, you can’t lose in life. “Just let me be great” is a daily mantra I tell myself every morning and this song speaks my language perfectly.
