KING and Mara Hruby kick-off the 2015 FIGat7th Fest
Third times the charm as Arts Brookfield presents the third annual FIGat7th Downtown Festival in Downtown Los Angeles. The free outdoor concert occurs every Friday starting July 10 and ending August 28. This past Friday, soulful group KING and Bay Area native Mara Hruby helped kick-off the summer concert series for fans of all ages.
Held at LA’s premier dining and shopping center, the event started with fans checking out new art pieces, turning up to happy hour specials, and grooving to house music on the rooftop deck. Whether fans were planning a date night, hanging out with friends, or making it a family outing, it was the perfect starry night to start the weekend.
The vintage and sweet sounds of Mara Hruby and KING prove that these two acts can bring a great crowd together for a relaxing ambiance. Their sound blends the retro soul of the ‘50s and ‘60s mixed with modern-day R&B and jazz. Hruby and her four-piece band performed covers as well as songs from her latest EP Archaic Rapture. While the trio KING performed a one-hour set plus an encore to soulful tracks from their EP The Story. Perhaps this festival just left fans yearning for more with the thought of these acts to take this show on the road in the future.
Los Angeles is the prime destination for entertainment and Arts Brookfield continues to raise the bar high as it adds on to the collective of free shows. The festival’s eclectic line-up showcases DJs and artists that span from pop, electronic, funk, and soul. Past line-ups have included artists such as BJ the Chicago Kid, The Internet, Belle Brigade, and Fool’s Gold. Artists taking over the downtown stage this year will include Esta, SoSuperSam, Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals, Mayer Hawthorne, Adrian Younge and more. To get the full line-up, check out Arts Brookfield for more information as well as other activities for the whole family this summer.
